Berat
(also known in Albanian as Berati) is a
town located in south-central Albania.
Berat lies on the right bank of the
river Osum, a short distance from the
point where it is joined by the Molisht
river. It is remarkable Ottoman town,
with a wealth of beautiful buildings of
the highest architectural and historical
interest. The pine forests above the
city, on the slopes of the towering
Tomori mountains, provide a backdrop of
appropriate
grandeur.

Berat
was the most wonderful city I was really
affected in Albania. The old houses,
bridges were protected and the
conditions of these historical
architectures were great.
This old bridge was built by Ottoman.
Now this bridge is connecting Muslim and
Christian districts.
If you know Safranbolu in Turkey, the
same old houses in Berat.

While
we were going to Tirane, the wonderful
nature was following us, and sometimes
we stoped in order to take some
pictures.
I hope Albania people know the meaning
of this nature and protect it. |

On
10th June 2007 George W. Bush visited
Albania for few hours. For that event
many Albanians prepared themselves to
welcome him. On this picture is the
failed mausoleum of Enver Hoxha, "great"
Albanian communist (ruled 1944-1985),
and on the top is welcoming inscription
"Welcome president Bush". It is funny
how returnable can be the history... |
